Authorship and contributions

Contribution, consent and accountability.

Policy version 1.0 · Effective date 2026-10-20

Who qualifies as an author

Authors must make a substantial contribution, draft or substantively revise the work, approve its final version and accept accountability for their contribution. Rank, funding or language editing alone is insufficient. Other assistance is acknowledged with the contributor’s permission.

Contributions and corresponding author

Describe contributions to conceptualization, methods, code, data, analysis, visualization and writing; CRediT roles may be used. The corresponding author checks author order, affiliations, contacts and consent, and handles editorial questions. Final PDF and web metadata must agree.

Changes and disputes

Adding, removing or reordering authors requires a reason and written agreement from all affected authors. After publication, an approved correction notice is required. The editor may pause a disputed manuscript and seek institutional clarification. Authorship cannot be purchased and AI cannot be an author.
